I know from personal experience how discouraging/annoying/frustrating forehead wrinkles can be. I am a very expressive person and have had forehead wrinkles/fine lines since I was a teenager. I’m the type of person who makes weird faces and has little control over what my face is doing when I’m telling a story or showing emotion. I had no idea until a few years ago that forehead wrinkles were purely from the expressions I made and that there were things I could do to both stop making those expressions and promote collagen and cell turnover to remove the furrows that those expressions had made over time. In this post, I’m going to share the best products for forehead wrinkles.

Two things to know when reading this article:

  1. I am not into Botox, fillers, or other injectibles. They just aren’t for me. It is pretty documented that Botox does work to get rid of forehead wrinkles temporarily (a few months) but I am committed to only using more natural methods that I can do at home so that’s what you’ll find in this list: more natural methods that can be done at home.
  2. All of the products, except for two, in this article are products that I have used that have made a noticeable difference in my forehead wrinkles. The last two products I will mention I have not used but I have researched a lot and I have actually purchased one of them today and will purchase the other today or tomorrow so I do believe the last two options will work as well.

Here’s a pic of me from about 4 months ago on the Left- this is before I started using any of these products on my forehead. The pic on the Right is from today, 4 months after using products to target my wrinkles. Some of these products I’ve only used for a few weeks and others I’ve used for 4 months.

Best Products for Forehead Wrinkles

Frownies Forehead Patches

Frownies are hands down the best product for forehead wrinkles that I have ever tried. They are simple pieces of unbleached paper with a natural adhesive on the back that activates when they are wet. The moistened patches are then placed on your forehead and dry to form a cast so that you can no longer move your forehead muscles and make the expressions that lead to your wrinkles. The most common practice is to wear them overnight. They were invented in the late 1800s so these babies have stood the test of time!

I saw results the very first morning after wearing them overnight but when you first start wearing them the results will only last as long as you don’t start making your familiar expressions again. Over time though your muscles will be re-trained and you’ll stop making those exact expressions that lead to your wrinkles so your results will become more permanent. It was the two-month mark when I noticed that my results were lasting through the day. At the time of writing this, it’s been 4 months of nightly use and my forehead wrinkles continue to lessen. I’m telling you, these work- you just need to give them time.

Maelove Moonlight Retinal Serum

This Maelove Moonlight Retinal Serum is my first retinal/retinol/retinoid to ever use. I had heard many times over that retinals were the wonder serum for wrinkles but I was scared to try one because I had read they can be toxic because of the high levels of vitamin A. I decided to go ahead and try the Maelove Moonlight Retinal Serum after hearing some good reviews and after running its ingredients through the EWG Skin Deep database and discovering it came out with a score of “4”, which I consider to be “low toxic”. This was the lowest score I had ever seen for a retinal so that made me feel good about trying it. I have only used it for a week but I could feel and see minor improvements within a day or two and can tell this product is very effective. I’ll give an update as time goes on. I will note two things: 1. I remember now that I did try a sample of the Sundae Riley retinal for a week and saw zero results (but liked the way it felt and smelled). 2. Maelove has a more gentle retinal for beginners called Starlight Retinal Serum for those that are sensitive or just starting with retinal. I do not have sensitive skin at all so I started with the Moonlight Serum and after 3 days of straight use I did feel some slight flakiness and irritation but it’s so so so minor and I decided to just use it every 2 or 3 nights to be more gentle.

Nira Laser

I love using my Nira laser. Nira has a “Nira Precision Laser” and a “Nira Laser”. The difference is the size of the laser head. The Precision has a smaller head that allows you to target small areas and lines such as: around your eyes, around your lips and nasal labial folds, and bunny lines on your nose. You can use it anywhere but it just will take longer to treat your whole forehead or chest or neck- areas like that that are broader- the regular Nira laser would be better for those areas. I have the Nira Precision and I like it because I want to treat around my eyes and my nasal labial folds but I would love to also have the regular Nira so I can treat my forehead more easily (right now I just use the Precision to go along the remnants of my forehead wrinkles).

The results from the Nira lasers take 90 days to see because collagen takes a while to produce. The Nira lasers are on the expensive side but the major benefit is that you don’t have to buy other components and once you purchase you are done- you can keep using it forever (as opposed to refilling serums and disposable products). Also, laser treatments are normally in-office treatments that are very expensive and take several treatments to be effective. With an at-home option, you can use it every day for a fraction of the cost. It takes me about 2 minutes a day to use. I often use it in the morning and also at night but the recommendation is only once a day. I forgot to mention that the Nira lasers are non-fractional lasers and are FDA-approved and clinical proven to show results. Use code “ashbrockinton” if you decide to buy the Nira Laser for their best possible discount.

Currentbody Redlight and Near Infrared Light Mask

The Currentbody Redlight and Near Infrared Light Mask is a device, like the Nira Laser that is a substitute for in-office treatments. This mask uses red light and near-infrared light to heal the skin and promote collagen growth. It is the leading red mask and 31% stronger than any other at-home mask of this type. I’ve been using my Currentbody mask for about 2 weeks and I feel like I can already see a difference in my skin… it overall looks brighter and fresher. You strap it on your face and then push a button for it to turn on. The red lights are really bright. You can either close your eyes, where the goggles they include, or keep your eyes open but know you can’t really see anything. After 10 minutes the mask automatically turns off. I try to use it once a day before I get ready for bed.

Derma Clara Silicone Patches

I have not tried the Dermaclara patches but I plan to order some this weekend. They look like a sexier form of Frownies but work very differently. The Dermaclara patches are made of 100% medical-grade silicone. Whereas the Frownies patches work to immobilize the muscles, Dermaclara patches work by trapping moisture between the silicone and skin and promoting collagen growth and skin healing. My plan, when I receive the Dermaclara patches is to wear my Frownies patches overnight, and then, in the morning, after I wake up, I will remove the Frownies and put on the Dermaclara patches and where those while I drop off the kids to school and get ready for the morning. Some people wear the Dermaclara patches at night but you are supposed to wear them without skincare products on AND if you wear them at night you obviously can’t wear Frownies so there’s no way I will give up my skincare and Frownies that I know work for this option but I feel like it would be a great addition if I can figure out when to wear them.

Dr. Pen At Home Microneedling Pen

This is another product that I haven’t personally used but I feel will very much help with my forehead wrinkles. I actually ordered the Dr. Pen M8 micronnedling pen today. Microneedling works by using extremely fine needles to quickly puncture the skin and create micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries make your body create collagen, which of course is what we all want. I will update this post in a few months after a few microneedling sessions to share how well I think it’s working. Based on my research, I feel like this is going to be a slightly uncomfortable but very effective solution. Also, DO NOT buy a Dr. Pen on Amazon or any sketch site. There are so many counterfeits out there and they can mess up your skin. I recommend you purchase from this site or another site that sells Dr. Pens that include a verification sticker that allows you to check them on a registered website.

Conclusion

It can be very overwhelming trying to figure out the best product for forehead wrinkles. I hope one/any/all of these suggestions work as well for you as they have for me. If I find any more or different products that I find to be super effective in lessening my forehead wrinkles then I will update this post but the truth is that my forehead wrinkles have always been my main area of concern and with the help of the product mentioned in this article, my forehead wrinkles are now my least concern. Also, I want to note that at the time of writing this, I have only been using these products for 4 months or less. I started with Frownies, then added the Nira laser, then the Currentbody, then Maelove, and then next plan on adding microneedling and the Derma Clara patches.
