Before I share my favorite gold towel holders, I want to clarify that I will be including finishes that would also be considered “brass” or “champagne bronze” in this list. I personally love gold and brass tones and have found in my personal research as I am re-modeling my entire home that when searching for brass finishes they are often called “gold” or “satin gold” or “brushed gold” or even “champagne bronze”. Basically I’ve found that anything that is not literally made from brass or bronze AND anything that is made of a metal and then painted gold is considered, or might be named “gold” and for that reason, this list includes gold tones, despite the metal type of product name.

Why Choose A Gold Towel Holder?

• Gold brings warmth and elegance to a room. It pairs well aesthetically with greens, greys, marble, wood elements, and black. When paired with these grounded neutrals it has a very historic but edgy feel. You don’t want to use gold in a bathroom with warm tones- it will be too much.
• I personally prefer brushed or antiqued gold finishes over polished gold finishes, to me the more matte options give a patina feel as opposed to feeling gaudy.
• Gold towel holders can be used to match other gold hardware of the same finish in the bathroom or you can mix and match metal tones. Brushed nickel would pair well with brushed gold.

Do You Even Need a Towel Holder?

Now we come to the part where I get very passionate… I mean, why is a post about towel holders even part of a website focused on lowering the toxic burden in your home and life? I’ll tell you why… it’s because I know all too well what mold can do to a family, how mold grows, and how to prevent it. Having towel holders in your bathroom allows towels to properly dry, which not only lowers the humidity of the room but also prevents the towel itself from growing mold.

We just moved back into our home after 19 months of remediating it from hidden mold. Our primary suite bathroom is our first priority because currently there are 7 of us sharing it and we have SO many wet towels and nowhere to hang them to dry. I JUST received the towel holders we will be using and I can’t wait to finish installing them.

I personally opted to include one double hook next to the shower to accommodate two towels or a towel and a bathrobe as well as 2 24″ towel bars that will go below the two chest-height windows in our bathroom. I felt the one hook wasn’t adequate as we not only need to constantly dry bath towels and hand towels but we also frequently need to dry bathing suites or clothing. This is an example of where towel holders might seem like mostly an aesthetic touch but in reality, their function needs to be seriously considered to keep your home as healthy as possible (ie- don’t let mold grow or humidity ranges stay high).
